Sad stuff – R.I.P Lucky Dube
I went through a reggae phase where I listened to alot of Lucky Dube albums. They didn’t change my world, but I liked his lyrics.
He actually lived just three houses from mine (in Johannesburg) - thats the closest I ever came to the big guy seeing that my parents never ever let me go to any of his concerts in Kampala which were characterised by stampedes!
Well, I just wanted to note how sad it is: the man was gunned down in front of his young son in an attempt to steal his car: as if a car were worth the price of a human life (not to mention the cost to those left behind to mourn). He was 43.
WTF’s wrong with this crazy nation? And the government’s response to crime is “STOP WHINGING”. I didnt think I’d ever say this, but now I’m thinking that I would kill (see shoot a thug) if it ever means that I have to protect my family.
